Linux CPU Input Plugin

This plugin gathers CPU metrics exposed on Linux systems.

Introduced in: Telegraf v1.24.0 Tags: system OS support: linux

Global configuration options

In addition to the plugin-specific configuration settings, plugins support additional global and plugin configuration settings. These settings are used to modify metrics, tags, and field or create aliases and configure ordering, etc. See the CONFIGURATION.md for more details.

Configuration

# Provides Linux CPU metrics
# This plugin ONLY supports Linux
[[inputs.linux_cpu]]
  ## Path for sysfs filesystem.
  ## See https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/filesystems/sysfs.txt
  ## Defaults:
  # host_sys = "/sys"

  ## CPU metrics collected by the plugin.
  ## Supported options:
  ## "cpufreq", "thermal"
  ## Defaults:
  # metrics = ["cpufreq"]

Metrics

The following tags are emitted by the plugin under the name linux_cpu:

TagDescription
cpuIdentifier of the CPU

The following fields are emitted by the plugin when selecting cpufreq:

Metric name (field)DescriptionUnits
scaling_cur_freqCurrent frequency of the CPU as determined by CPUFreqKHz
scaling_min_freqMinimum frequency the governor can scale toKHz
scaling_max_freqMaximum frequency the governor can scale toKHz
cpuinfo_cur_freqCurrent frequency of the CPU as determined by the hardwareKHz
cpuinfo_min_freqMinimum operating frequency of the CPUKHz
cpuinfo_max_freqMaximum operating frequency of the CPUKHz

The following fields are emitted by the plugin when selecting thermal:

Metric name (field)DescriptionUnits
throttle_countNumber of thermal throttle events reported by the CPU
throttle_max_timeMaximum amount of time CPU was in throttled statems
throtlle_total_timeCumulative time during which the CPU was in throttled statems

New in InfluxDB 3.4

Key enhancements in InfluxDB 3.4 and the InfluxDB 3 Explorer 1.2.

See the Blog Post

InfluxDB 3.4 is now available for both Core and Enterprise, which introduces offline token generation for use in automated deployments and configurable license type selection that lets you bypass the interactive license prompt. InfluxDB 3 Explorer 1.2 is also available, which includes InfluxDB cache management and other new features.
