List databases

Use the influxctl database list command to list databases in your InfluxDB cluster.

  1. If you haven’t already, download and install the influxctl CLI.

  2. Run influxctl database list with the following:

influxctl database list --format table

Output formats

The influxctl database list command supports two output formats: table and json. By default, the command outputs the list of databases formatted as a table. For easier programmatic access to the command output, include --format json with your command to format the database list as JSON.

Example output

+---------------+------------------+------------+-----------------------+
| DATABASE NAME | RETENTION PERIOD | MAX TABLES | MAX COLUMNS PER TABLE |

InfluxDB Docker latest tag changing to InfluxDB 3 Core

On February 3, 2026, the latest tag for InfluxDB Docker images will point to InfluxDB 3 Core. To avoid unexpected upgrades, use specific version tags in your Docker deployments.

If using Docker to install and run InfluxDB, the latest tag will point to InfluxDB 3 Core. To avoid unexpected upgrades, use specific version tags in your Docker deployments. For example, if using Docker to run InfluxDB v2, replace the latest version tag with a specific version tag in your Docker pull command–for example:

docker pull influxdb:2
