Delete a database

Use the influxctl database delete command to delete a database from your InfluxDB cluster.

  1. If you haven’t already, download and install the influxctl CLI.

  2. Run the influxctl database delete command and provide the following:

    • Name of the database to delete
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the database.

influxctl database delete
DATABASE_NAME
  • Copy
  • Fill window

Deleting a database cannot be undone

Once a database is deleted, data stored in that database cannot be recovered.

Cannot reuse database names

After a database is deleted, you cannot reuse the same name for a new database.

Never directly modify the Catalog

Never directly modify the PostgreSQL-compatible Catalog. Doing so will result in an undefined state for various components and may lead to data loss and crashes.

InfluxDB 3 Core and Enterprise are now in Beta

InfluxDB 3 Core and Enterprise are now available for beta testing, available under MIT or Apache 2 license.

InfluxDB 3 Core is a high-speed, recent-data engine that collects and processes data in real-time, while persisting it to local disk or object storage. InfluxDB 3 Enterprise is a commercial product that builds on Core’s foundation, adding high availability, read replicas, enhanced security, and data compaction for faster queries. A free tier of InfluxDB 3 Enterprise will also be available for at-home, non-commercial use for hobbyists to get the full historical time series database set of capabilities.
