#### API token hashing is enabled by default in InfluxDB OSS 2.9.0

Stronger token security: tokens are stored as hashes on disk, so a
copy of the database file doesn’t expose usable tokens. Existing
tokens are hashed on first startup and the original strings can’t
be recovered afterward — **capture any plaintext tokens you still
need before you upgrade**.

Use the `influx` command line interface (CLI) to view users.

## View users using the influx CLI

Use the [`influx user list` command](/influxdb/v2/reference/cli/influx/user/list)to view users. Provide the following:

* An [operator token](/influxdb/v2/admin/tokens/#operator-token) using your[`influx` CLI connection configuration](/influxdb/v2/reference/cli/influx/#provide-required-authentication-credentials),`INFLUX_TOKEN` environment variable, or the `--token, -t` flag.

influx user list
```

Filtering options such as filtering by username or ID are available.
